This is No Excuses week here on the blog.
I love hearing stories about people who have defied perceived limitations to live active and healthy lives, even to accomplish tremendous physical feats. It makes my piddly little obstacles seem like anthills. Yesterday was the cool yoga granny. Today’s an amazing triathlete granny.
Read about Harriet Anderson, a 74-year-old completer of the Ironman World Championship Triathlon in Kona. She swam 2 miles, biked 100 miles, and ran 26.2 miles. All under the 12 hour time limit.
Not only does she defy her age every single day as an endurance athlete, but during the actual Kona race someone ran into her on her bike and she broker her clavicle, but got taped up and kept on going.
Her training regime gets her up at 4am most mornings. She mixes in trail running, spinning/cycling, swimming, pilates, and yoga to keep her body fit and loose.
What are your thoughts? How are you finding ways to challenge whatever obstacles are in your path?
