Breakfast Tips

Check out this Weight Watcher’s article about fueling up in the a.m.

“Eating breakfast is like filling up a gas tank. When you wake up in the morning, your body is low on fuel, like a car running on empty…A morning meal can kick-start your engine by giving your body energy…skipping breakfast may make you more likely to overeat later in the day to make up for the missed meal.”

What I really liked is their suggestion for current non-breakfast-eaters:  ” If you can’t stomach much, try a few grapes or a wheat cracker and half a glass of juice. After a few days, your body might naturally look forward to this a.m. fuel-up and you can try more substantial meals.”

Have you noticed any differences in your overall daily hunger or fitness when you started eating a regular breakfast?  What tips would you share with those who don’t currently eat breakfast?  What are your favorite breakfast ideas?  What about ideas for those who are rushing out the door in the morning, ideas for quick grab & go breakfasts?

  1. Yesterdays food choices
    Cliff Builder Bar
    Larabar – chocolate cookie dough
Ham sandwich with bowl of veggies with roasted red pepper dressing
    Asian Salad
    Brown rice with saucy chicken
    handful of skittles

I always eat breakfast! I think it is my favorite meal of the day. Something I read in an article posed the question why don’t we eat our dinner leftovers for breakfast? People have breakfast for dinner why not dinner for breakfast. An interesting thought.

  2. Abrey- yum! Clif Builder’s bars are Doug’s fav. Thanks for sharing your food choices! I admire your love of breakfast. Personally I fall into the zero-hunger-nothing-sounds-palatable-in-the-morning category. Still force myself to have a little something, though. The leftovers for breakfast is a good idea! But then there goes my lunch 😉

    My food for today:
    GT’s Cranberry kombacha
    Lundberg Family brown rice chips
Leftover rice noodles w/ tofu & veggies from yesterday
2 leftover falafel from 2 days ago (I’m not very creative today, huh?)
    2 Clif mini bars
    Lotsa water

  3. I never used to eat breakfast until I started working out 6 days a week in the morning. I actually used to only eat once or twice a day. Now I have to eat at least every 2 hours or I’ll start going into shock. Well, probably not, but it sure feels like it. My body adjusted pretty quickly to learning that it needs fuel. It also has ended up keeping me more “regular”, if ya know what I mean. My body is starting to become more efficient, like the way it’s supposed to be. Now if I end up skipping breakfast it seems like my whole day is thrown off. So it has become the most important meal of the day for me. Today was kickboxing, so breakfast was a must. Here’s my food log for the day:
    Sandwich Thins w/ Peanut Butter
1% Lowfat Milk w/ Complete Nutrition Protein Chocolate
    String Cheese
Lean Cuisine Spinach, Artichoke and Chicken Panini
    String Cheese
    Special K Bar Chocolately Pretzel
    Subway 6″ BLT
Wholly Guacamole w/ Kashi TLC Crackers
