“The last if not greatest of human freedoms: to choose their own attitude in any given circumstance.” Bruno Bettelheim
We can’t control what decisions others make, we can’t tell life to stop throwing curveballs, and sometimes we can’t stop those pesky brick walls from being built in front of us. But hard as it sounds, we can choose our attitude, our reaction.
From the book Last Lecture by Randy Pausch, this man is diagnosed with terminal cancer and chooses to live out all of his childhood dreams. He says, “The brick walls are there for a reason. Right? The brick walls are not there to keep us out, the brick walls are there to give us a chance to show how badly we want something. Because the brick walls are there to stop the people who don’t want it badly enough.”
Are you going to let the brick walls stop you or will you let the brick walls push your determination to the next notch?
