What’s Your One Word for 2012?

From the book Wisdom Walks, the authors Dan Britton and Jimmy Page share the concept of coming up with one word every New Year that gives meaning and focus to their life.  Jon Gordon talking about this idea shares the following:

“They come up with their word for the year that will give meaning and focus to their life. They said they don’t randomly pick a word, but rather through reflection, prayer and listening to their heart the word comes to them….I thought it was a brilliant idea. We live in a busy stressed-filled world with tons of distractions that cause us to forgo our resolutions and forget about our goals. But everyone can remember and focus upon one word that will represent the essence of what we hope to accomplish and who we want to be. ”  I would edit that last sentence to say “Focus upon one word that will represent the essence of who you are and what you want to uncover and develop inside yourself this year.”

My friend Stacey did this a few weeks ago.  I think it’s a fun idea.  Simpler than a complicated list of resoloutions.  Just merely a word to remember.  A powerful word that represents the journey you want to take yourself on this year.  So what do you think? What’s your word?

  1. My word is Strength. I have to keep reminding myself that I’m strong enough to get up every morning and work out. My weakness is not getting enough sleep. So no matter how how little sleep I get, I must get up. Otherwise, it’s a downward spiral with the excuse that I am too tired and don’t have enough energy. Today, I forced myself to get up to go to kickboxing for the first time in 5 months. Not gonna lie. It sucked. But I did it. Yay me! 🙂
