Here are the thoughts from this week’s yoga classes:

I have always loved this quote by Marianne Williamson: ““Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, ‘Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?’ Actually, who are you not to be? … Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine…. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

It seems that I’ve been a magnet the last 48 hours for friends going through hard times.  I’m happy to be there for them, to listen to them, to support them, and to remind them again of their inner strength and right to have happiness.  I chose this old fav quote of mine to share in classes this week because it applies to each of these people’s struggles.  I peradventure to say it applies to almost all struggles we encounter in our lives.  It definitely applies to my personal struggles.

In class, I encourage students to rock out their practice with strength, and energy, to be alive in every fiber of their being, to lift their hearts energetically to the sky and the symbolic place of prominence in their lives.  And then in the quiet moments of final savasana as we’re laying there soaking in the life and peace of class, I ask these questions.  “What if you lived your life every day fully KNOWING your beauty, talent, and fabulousness?  How would that change how you view yourself in the mirror? How would that change how you carry yourself around? How would that change your relationships? How would that change what you don’t put up with anymore? How would that change the magnitude of your dreams and the happiness you confidently run towards?”

We’re all worthy of insane happiness.  Don’t be afraid of situations that will make you happy.  Don’t be afraid to chase after big dreams.  Don’t be afraid to have others drawn to your leadership.  Don’t be afraid to BE your infinitely strong, beautiful self.  You being yourself gives others around you permission to be themselves.  Rock it out.
