Spring Training #6

Spring is here! Let’s dust off winter with some heart-pumping spring training.  During the month of April, Prana Fitness is going to post daily one workout move or yoga pose that you can do at home, at a park, or anywhere.

April 6th: Sumo Squat

Stand with feet a little further than hip-width distance apart. Angle feet slightly out to match the angle of thighs.  Squeeze tummy gently in and up towards ribcage.  Slightly tuck tailbone.  Sit back and low as far as you can with weight entirely in the heels (this is the most important part for your knee health- sit waaaaayyyy back).  Keep neck long and neutral.  You can do sumo squats with long low holds, or do it with quick up and down reps.  Form is more important than speed.
