Spring Training #28

Spring is here! Let’s dust off winter with some heart-pumping spring training.  During the month of April, Prana Fitness is going to post daily one workout move or yoga pose that you can do at home, at a park, or anywhere.

April 28th: Locust

Lay on belly, legs hip-width distance apart behind you.  Lift chest, arms, and legs off the ground.  Extend arms towards ankles.  Roll shoulders down away from ears.  Keep a long, neutral neck.  Lift bottom ribs up off mat.  Lift upper thighs off mat.  Hold for about 30 seconds and breathe slowly.  Repeat.  Major low-back strengthening pose.  Get it!

Modification would be cobra pose: Keep legs relaxed behind you on the ground. Bend elbows and place palms on ground under shoulders but with no body weight in the hands.  Lift chest off ground and hold. Keep a long, neutral neck.
